Erasmus per giovani imprenditori è un programma di scambio internazionale avviato dall’Unione europea nel 2009. Il programma offre l’opportunità a giovani e ambiziosi imprenditori di acquisire importanti conoscenze da imprenditori esperti. Questi imprenditori sono quelli che ospitano le persone ambiziose che sono desiderose di saperne di più su come funziona un’impresa in un paese straniero e in condizioni diverse da quelle con cui hanno familiarità. Gli imprenditori ospitanti di solito gestiscono piccole o medie imprese in uno dei paesi che partecipano al programma.

Coloro che intendono partecipare al programma devono soddisfare almeno una delle due condizioni fondamentali:

• Avere in programma di avviare un’impresa sulla base di un piano imprenditoriale fattibile.
• Non avere esperienza imprenditoriale, o comunque fino a tre anni.

Non c’è, peraltro, alcun limite di età. Persone di tutte le età possono candidarsi per aziende in un’ampia varietà di settori. La durata dello scambio può variare da uno a sei mesi. 

Come nuovi imprenditori, i partecipanti beneficeranno di un’esperienza sul posto di lavoro e della formazione che svolgeranno. Ciò fornirà ai partecipanti gli strumenti necessari per un avvio di successo della loro attività e rafforzerà la loro nuova impresa. Un altro aspetto positivo del programma potrebbe essere l’accesso a nuovi mercati e potenziali possibilità di collaborazione con partner commerciali all’estero. Inoltre, i partecipanti acquisiranno informazioni su diversi contesti culturali e organizzativi e capiranno come funzionano le aziende nell’Unione Europea. Ultimo ma non meno importante, il miglioramento delle competenze linguistiche sarà significativo in molti modi.

Molti vantaggi attendono anche gli imprenditori ospitanti. Possono trarre profitto da nuove idee di un giovane imprenditore motivato, che può avere competenze o conoscenze specializzate in un’area che non padroneggiano. Ci sono alcune opportunità, quando l’ospite gode dell’esperienza e decide in seguito di ospitare altri giovani imprenditori. Avranno l’opportunità di conoscere i mercati esteri e di impegnarsi in attività transfrontaliere. Lo scambio migliorerà il potenziale di crescita della loro azienda stabilendo partnership commerciali con nuovi imprenditori di altri paesi europei. Infine, attraverso l’uso delle etichette e del certificato Erasmus per giovani imprenditori, aumenteranno la visibilità e il prestigio della loro attività.

Attraverso questo programma, gli imprenditori potrebbero beneficiare di ampie opportunità di networking e potrebbero decidere di continuare la loro collaborazione possibilmente come partner commerciali a lungo termine.

Un ottimo esempio che mostra i benefici del programma per entrambe le parti è la partnership tra Andrea dall’Italia e Jan dai Paesi Bassi, come mostrato nella sezione “storie di successo” nel sito web del programma. Hanno lavorato insieme in progetti relativi alla soppressione della libertà di espressione dei difensori dei diritti umani. Entrambi gli imprenditori erano estremamente soddisfatti della loro collaborazione, quindi hanno deciso di continuare la loro partnership anche dopo la fine del periodo di scambio. La rete di Jan fornirà ad Andrea l’accesso al suo database e Andrea avrà la possibilità di sviluppare la propria rete personale e i propri contatti.

Il programma è finanziato dalla Commissione europea e opera in tutti i paesi partecipanti con l’assistenza dei punti di contatto locali. Questi luoghi sono selezionati dalla Commissione e il loro ruolo è quello di guidare i giovani durante tutto il loro scambio. In particolare aiutano non solo con l’applicazione, ma assistono i candidati nello stabilire una relazione di successo con un imprenditore adatto e forniscono loro risposte a eventuali domande. Inoltre, questi punti di contatto offrono assistenza locale ai nuovi imprenditori in visita durante il loro soggiorno.

I paesi idonei ad ospitare e partecipare al programma sono gli Stati membri dell’UE, nonché Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Erzegovina, Moldavia, Montenegro, Macedonia del Nord, Serbia, Islanda, Turchia, Regno Unito, Ucraina e Kosovo. Lo scambio può avvenire anche in destinazioni al di fuori dell’Europa, ad esempio negli Stati Uniti, Canada, Israele, Taiwan, Singapore e Corea del Sud. Per partecipare allo scambio in tali destinazioni, i partecipanti devono essere cittadini o residenti di uno Stato membro dell’UE o del Regno Unito.  

Questo programma è un ottimo modo per iniziare la tua carriera professionale in un ambiente internazionale insieme a persone appassionate di attività imprenditoriali e desiderose di formare nuovi imprenditori e acquisire conoscenze interagendo con persone di altri paesi.

Erasmus for young entrepreneurs is an international exchange programme and it was initiated by the European Union in 2009. The programme offers the opportunity to young and ambitious entrepreneurs to gain valuable knowledge from experienced entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs are the ones that host the ambitious people that are eager to learn more about how an enterprise functions in a foreign country and under different conditions than they are familiar with. The host entrepreneurs usually manage small or medium-sized businesses in one of the countries that participate in the programme.

Those who intend to participate in the programme should fulfil at least one of the two basic conditions:

• They plan to start an enterprise on the basis of a viable entrepreneurial plan.
• They have none or up to three years of entrepreneurial experience.

There is, also, no age limit. People of all ages can apply for businesses in a wide variety of sectors. The duration of the exchange can vary from one to six months. 

As new entrepreneurs, the participants will benefit from an on-the-job experience and the training that they will carry out. This will give the participants the tools needed for a successful start of their business and will strengthen their new enterprise. Another beneficial aspect of the programme might be the access to new markets as well as potential possibilities for collaboration with business partners abroad. Additionally, the participants will gain insights into different cultural and organizational settings and will understand how companies function in the European Union. Last but not least, the improvement of language skills will be significant in many ways.

A lot of benefits await the host entrepreneurs too. They can profit from fresh ideas from a motivated young entrepreneur, who may have specialized skills or knowledge in an area that they do not master. There are some occasions, when the host enjoys the experience and he decides afterwards to host other young entrepreneurs. They will have the opportunity to learn about foreign markets and to engage in cross-border activities. The exchange will improve the growth potential of their company by establishing business partnerships with new entrepreneurs from other European countries. Finally, through the use of the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs labels and certificate they will increase the visibility and prestige of their business.

Through this programme, entrepreneurs might benefit from wide networking opportunities and may decide to continue their collaboration possibly as long-term business partners.

A great example that shows the programme’s benefits for both sides is the partnership between Andrea from Italy and Jan from the Netherlands as shown in the success stories section in the programme’s website. They worked together in projects related to the suppression of freedom of expression of human rights advocates. Both entrepreneurs were extremely satisfied with their collaboration, so they decided to continue their partnership even after the end of the exchange period. Jan’s network will provide Andrea with access to its database and Andrea will have the chance to develop his own personal network and contacts. According to Andrea, «the programme gave him the opportunity to grasp the essence of human rights advocacy and meet with several scholars, law practitioners and human rights advocates».

The programme is financed by the European Commission and operates across the participating countries with the assistance of the local contact points. These places are selected by the Commission and their role is to guide young people throughout their exchange. Specifically, they help with the application, they assist the applicants to establish a successful relationship with a suitable entrepreneur as well as providing them with answers to any possible questions. In addition, these contact points offer local assistance to visiting new entrepreneurs during their stay.

The countries that are eligible to host and participate in the programme are the EU member states as well as Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Türkiye, UK, Ukraine and Kosovo. The exchange can also take place in destinations outside Europe, for example in the USA, Canada, Israel, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea. To take part in the exchange in those destinations, the participants should be citizens or residents of an EU member state or the United Kingdom.
